1. What cookies are
In plain wordsCookies are small files a website saves in your browser to remember things.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, like "local storage", do the same job. Some are needed for a site to work; others measure visits or show ads. This page lists every one we use.
2. Your choice comes first
In plain wordsNothing that tracks you runs until you click "Accept". "Reject" is just as easy, and you can change your mind anytime.
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you click Accept, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set. If you click Reject, the site works exactly the same. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as Reject and do not show the banner.
You can change your choice at any time with (also at the bottom of every page). If you withdraw consent, we delete our analytics cookies from your browser.
3. Everything we store
| Name | Type | What it does | How long | Needs consent? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| axow-lang | Local storage | Remembers if you chose English or Spanish with the EN/ES button. | Until you clear your browser data | No (you asked for it) |
| axow-consent | Local storage | Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. | 6 months | No (needed to respect your choice) |
| _ga | Cookie (Google Analytics) | Tells visits apart with a random number, to count visitors. | 2 years | Yes, only after Accept |
| _ga_<ID> | Cookie (Google Analytics) | Keeps track of the current visit (session). | 2 years | Yes, only after Accept |
We do not use advertising cookies, social media pixels or session recording. If that ever changes, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.
4. About Google Analytics
Google Analytics is provided by Google LLC. It shows us totals such as how many people visited, which pages they viewed and roughly which city or country they came from. We turned off Google signals and ad personalization, and Google Analytics does not log or store full IP addresses. Google processes this data under its own Privacy Policy. You can also block Google Analytics on all websites with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
5. Browser controls
You can also delete or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Blocking them will not break this website; you may just be asked about cookies again.
